New Theme, New Vice, and More
Well then, as you can see I’ve updated the theme to the site finally with something I’ve been working on for a while. I’m calling the theme peoTwentyOne and it is a child theme for the default WordPress theme. If I actually think it thru to clean it up a bit I’m likely going to release it on this website for download in the future, but first things first I really want to get any feedback you might have on it. The comments section is always open for response, and I value both the good and the bad equally, so please, be brutal.
In other news, you might have noticed some random topics being published here under the category of Plinky. What is that all about? Well Plinky.com is a little meme idea wherein they give you a topic, and you’re to write about it. A lot of times where there’s silence on this website I either don’t have a good thing to talk about (I love writing, but writers block is a pain), or I’ve been extremely busy. Of late? It’s been writers block, so I’ve really taken to this idea that someone poses a question, and a large number of people write on it. I’m very likely to continue doing this, and so you’ll probably see that category surge forward in posts at a very regular rate.
And finally, I’m so happy to see summer pass. It’s starting into the cold winters here already, and it’s absolutely beautiful. I can’t express how much I love this season, where all the leaves are turning colour, and the outside air is cold and crisp. I entirely plan on taking full advantage of my camera this time to capture some of the beautiful that’s out there, and I’ll be sharing it right here on the website. I hope this message finds everyone well, and enjoying their turn of seasons. And you can be sure, I’ll be writing more soon.

Theme update…
I changed the default site theme to something simple, and a bit more in line with my current likes. I’ve got the next 3 days off work, so I’m going to allot a bit of that time to hopefully working on translating the CSS theme I’ve been developing into a wordpress theme so that I can proceed to launch it here. It’s simple, and something my site has lost a bit I feel.
When I originally launched this site the upkeep was insane. Everything was hand written, but I loved the look and feel I had developed for the page layout. Problem was, my tastes change a lot when it comes to design, and I found myself spending more time on maintenance than actually posting content. Lately, I’ve been slacking on content because the presentation isn’t where I want it to be. So it’s time to fix that, it’s time to get back to my roots, while still being able to allow WordPress to do it’s job and handle all the backend code that I’d honestly rather not deal with on this project.
So hopefully you’ll be seeing a change again by Thursday, and if nothing else, I’ll post some screenshots of the work in progress. (Even though my visit count has gone down recently due to lack of updates, I still can’t launch an at least mostly complete theme)

So yea, a brand new theme…
I had been playing around with the idea of using a different theme for a while here, and I finally found one that I could comfortably base my design off of, and grow from. So here you have it, the 2006 theme for Peoii.com. While I’m still working on perfecting it and modifying it in the way that I think is important, I think it’s suitable to post live to the world.
Now, what else is important about this? Well, I need to do some testing to make sure I didn’t completely break any pages I’ve already had created. That’s going to take some serious work if I have… but hey, I’m pretty sure I didn’t, so here’s to hopeing right?
Well, back to work hacking on this. More later.

So there are updates on the horizon…
… and this time I actually mean it! Tonight, when I get home from work, I’m going to be working on this website and redesigning the look and feel for the new year. I’ve got some ideas that I want to play with, and I’m anxious to actually get them up and running. Moreover, I’m working on a schedule for regular posting that I’m actually going to post and make myself stick to!
What does this mean? Well, more likely than not, it’s not going to mean a lot for the people reading other than you’ll have a glimpse into my life more often. But for me, it means a great deal in redefining myself thru this next year.
So that’s it for this post. However, you can be certain that within the next 24 hours, this website is going to get a major overhaul, and that should intrigue you enough to come back soon.

So yea, I’ve updated the sites software…
In my efforts not to fall behind on software updates on the website, I sat down today in shock and found out that I had missed a couple updates for various software packages… *sigh* Okay, so I went ahead and updated EVERYTHING today. Not only that, but I decided to install a couple new plugins into wordpress. Here’s the rundown:
- Updates
- WordPress: 1.5.1 -> 1.5.2
- Gallery 2: Beta -> 2.0.1
- Bad Behavior: 1.2.1 -> 1.2.2
- Additions
- Weighted Words: Basically this is for my own personal curiosity. It shows me what words I use more than others, and allows me to quickly search for words based on how often I’ve used them. You can take a look at my “Word Cloud” over at /word-cloud/
- WP-ContactForm: Now working over at /contact-me/, you may use this page to contact me via a simple email based form.
And finally, one major change to the website. I’ve decided to un-embed the gallery from the website, mainly because it was becoming a complete pain in the rear when it came time to update either portion of it. So now, the gallery is a stand-alone module, which I think not only looks more professional, but just makes my life that much easier.
Well, that should about do it for the updates today on the website. I THINK I covered everything, though who knows, I tinkered around with it quite a bit. If you’ve got any suggestions/comments on it, please, feel free to speak up! I always like hearing what others have to say regarding it.
