I get a lot of questions when it comes to what addons I use on my various characters in the World of Warcraft when it comes to my user interface. So, I’ve decided to setup this page to give reference to those addons that I use, how they’re used, and why I use them. Who knows, maybe it will help people figure out of it they would like to use in their User Interface. Ok, enough with the dribble, on with the details!
A couple of statements though first:
- Yes, I could have made it use less memory. But why should I spend 4 hours configuring something I can spend 10 minutes configuring, and the remaining time actually… you know… PLAYING THE GAME.
- Yes, I do enjoy tweaking the heck outta this… it’s fun to me.
- No, this likely is not my most current version, because this, like me, changes often.
- No, you may not create a character on my server just to talk to me about it… So ha! (okay, so you really can, but if I’m raiding or something, expect my attention to be there, not with you)

Unit Frames:
+oUF_lumen — Used for Player, Target, Focus, Party and Raid. They’re light weight, simple, straight to the point, and also are used for cast bars for certain frames including the player. Requires oUF.
*Shadowed Unit Frames — While I no longer use these at this point, I would like to recommend them for anyone looking for a simple, powerful, unit frame with ingame configuration. Lets be honest, editing an lua config file isn’t exactly for everyone, and Shadoweds project got such a following in the community that when he quit the game, others picked up the project almost immediately. Highly recommended indeed.
Buff Mod:
+nivBuffs — Light weight, simple sorting, all lua configuration. I like their simplicity, and they’ve been updated for the 4.0.1 patch to include secure frames so you can indeed right click off your buffs.
Bar Mods:
Dominos — Hands down my personal favorite, easy to configure, and does everything I need.
DockingStation — LDB Display for all the LDB feeds that various mods provide. Kinda fubar-esque for those who might use it, but in a better implementation.
*Quartz — Completely customizable cast bars, from making my personal cast bar small and information filled, to making my targets cast bar so large I never miss an interrupt.
Chat Addons:
rChat — Very simplistic chat modifications, including copying a url, shortening chat names, and the like. Again, all lua configuration, but worth it imho.
Fane — Cleaner chat tabs.
GreedBeacon — I… hate… loot… spam.
*Prat — Does most everything I could ever want in a chat mod, and I can turn off the stuff I don’t. What more can you ask for?
Inventory Addons:
Bagnon — All in one bag system, with the ability to remember your bank wherever you are, and view your alts bags as well.
Crossdresser — Change specs, change gear, nuff said.
EquipSetUpdater — Adds the all important “update” button to the default equipment manager.
Raid Addons:
Clique — Some may not qualify Clique as a raid addon, but I do, because without it raiding would be an absolute nightmare.
ControlFreak — Because knowing when your CC is going to break is just about as important as actually casting it in the first place.
Dues Vox Encounters (DXE) — As a progression guild, we’ve chosen DXE as our platform and I gotta say, once I got used to all the features it has, I was hooked. A must have for a raider imho.
Misc Addons:
Butsu — Minimalistic loot frames.
SexyCooldown — All your cooldowns on one easy to see line.
MikScrollingBattleText — Like the SCT of old, only better, and easier to use.
Nudist — Getting naked was never so easy.
PocketPlot — Very lightweight Minimap alternative.
StealYourCarbon — I’m lazy, and hate remembering to buy reagents
teksLoot — Minimalistic roll frames.
* = No longer using addon, but still highly recommended.
+ = Modified from it’s release source to suite my own needs.

Really nice work with the UI
But can you send me your layout code?
Would be so nice to have your UI
GL in the future

I’ve actually considered uploading my UI with a “no support guaranteed” clause. Havn’t quite decided yet, but if I do, I’ll definitely post it here. Moreover, I need to update the screenshot and addon listing. Some changes have been made that make it far easier for me to use.

How do you get the black around you map and chat window, would love to make it part of my UI
06/12/2009 @ 09:41
That’s actually done via an addon called kgPanels. Pretty straight forward within there to create a black box behind elements in your UI. Worked well for combining those 2 pieces into 1 “utility box” which was my goal with this layout.

Dear Peoii,
I see back in October you stated that perhaps you would be releasing your UI code in the future. I realized it’s changed since the above screenshot, but any update on that possible release?
Thanks.

There actually is a good chance of that coming soon. I’m working on a tutorial I plan on publishing here for my guild mates on how to build an effective UI, and part of that will be releasing the pack that is my current UI. It’s changed, but I’ll hopefully have an update with it very soon. My apologies for the delay, I’ve had quite the last couple months. Lots of changes in my life, but I’ll definitely be getting to this soon.

No need to apologize… I greatly appreciate it. I know how changes in one’s life can make things lag behind schedule.
Kudos for coming up with the UI above–it’s very nice. I look forward to updates.
