So it’s been a while… but a good while…

Wow, so that was the longest “I’ll be posting later” that I’ve ever had. Usually I’m a tad quicker, but honestly a ton of stuff has come up that has prevented me from posting on a regular basis. And then the times that I have available, I’ve been working on various projects, or simply attempting to relax.

So lets see, what’s happened since my last post… Well, there was that whole Christmas season which came and went all to quickly it seemed. I went from December 5th to December 25th in one day it seemed, and I can hardly remember the time inbetween. I guess that’s what “life in the fast lane” is like. Course, I’m still rather shocked that we’re already in February.

January was stressful. That’s about the nicest thing I can say about it aside from the fact that I celebrated my birthday towards the end of the month. Work was the main source of the stress, with the store recording record low sales, and yet still having the foot traffic of previous years. Basically, we were customer service for a great part of January, and in a commision based business, that’s a huge source of stress.

So what does the future lay for me? Honestly? I’m not sure… I like my job, I enjoy the people I work with, and I really do like the customers I’m helping out. But unless something changes, I’m fearful that someone else may choose to change our store in one form or another. I guess only the future will tell, but I can be certain that I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure our store continues to service the area.

Other than all of that… I’m doing quite well :) I’ve met some new people who I’m very much enjoying talking with, and I’m progressing my life in my own way. Heck, I’m even working on a new idea for the website a bit as far as design to let me rediscover myself in that way too.

I guess this post comes down to one thing… I’m doing as the slogan for this site has said for a year now. I’m rediscovering myself, one post at a time, one day at a time. And what have I discovered so far? Well, that’s another post for another day.

Til then.

(P.S.: Of all the things I know the most right now, I know I need love.)

So my sister is getting married…

That’s right folks, it’d appear my sister is getting married! It’s pretty damn cool if you ask me, and I couldn’t be more happy for her and her man. His name is Jacob, and though I’ve only met him once, he definitely sounds like a really nice guy. Ahh hell, pictures speak louder than words, so here’s the only picture of the two of them I have access to:

Kelly & Jacob

The date they’ve set is May 13th, 2006, so if you know them and are expecting an invite to the wedding, start clearing your calendars folks. Hell, with my new job, I’m already prepping to start telling them NOW that I need that time off. My sister is that important to me, and hell itself couldn’t keep me from that wedding.

A few words for the happy couple should they read the site:

To Kelly: Grats Biotch! Now go be a good wifey and get your man a beer.

To Jacob: You’re cool in my book, remember that, but you break my sisters heart ever, and I’ll break your body in half. It’s not a threat, it’s a promise. Nah, in all seriousness, I just wanted to let you know that you’re marrying a wonderful woman… treat her like it, and she’ll treat you the same for the rest of your life.

Anyway… Grats to both of you, and may this marriage last as long as ya’ll both want it to.

So sometimes you just need some inspiration…

I sat down tonight, curled up with a couple cats, and watched a movie. Sounds rather relaxing yes? You have no idea… “What movie?” would be a very valid question, and the answer: Gladiator. I havn’t watched the movie since the first time I saw it shortly after my wonderful sister bought it for me on DVD for my birthday some years ago. I remembered enjoying the movie, and thinking it had a great story line, but I couldn’t remember the specifics, so I figured tonight was a good time to watch it again. Boy was that the right choice.

You see, I now realize that movie falls into a category that few movies really do for me. The category being “movies that require a second time to fully appreciate”. It was good the first time, but the second time, I’m man enough to admit, I cried. It was a very moving film, and to say that it didn’t churn emotions in me would be a complete lie. I felt as though I wanted to help out with what was going on, I could feel the draw to do something, and it spured forth in me a sense of great loss when I was left helpless like those spectating in the film.

I don’t know, maybe I’m just very emotional right now, or maybe it just finally clicked in my head as to exactly what the movie meant. But this I will say for certain, it was the right choice of movie tonight.

Inspirational? Yes, it has filled me with a drive towards something great. What? Sorry folks, for now, that’s a secret… But soon my friends, soon.

Until the next post, I leave you with a quote from the movie which has my brain churning:

There was a dream that was Rome. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile. - Marcus Aurelius

So power outages are interesting…

I don’t know what’s been up with the weather around here as of late, but it’s been very very unpredictable. We’ll go from very hot weather one hour, to thunder, lightning, and rain the next hour… Almost reminds me of living on the Puget Sound. Only major difference being that what we call “rain” here, they’d call a “drizzle” over there, but hey, such is life.

The lightning storms are one of the things I really love about this area, as I’ve always enjoyed watching them whenever they happened where I was living. Bonus part to around here is, we’ve got 2 seasons where they’re fairly regular, though the ones this year seem a tad more severe than last year. Heck, we had the whole town go black for a while during this most recent one. Kinda a suprise as the power hasn’t been out that long in the area since I moved up here.

Other than that, things have been pretty status quo with the weather, though I’m very happy to report the summer is much more mild than previous ones. I’m not feeling the urge to go move to Alaska to escape the heat this year (though, I do think about a colder climate sometimes as a nice change to life, as I love that weather), so I can definately tell it’s cooler outside. Heck, the cats show it… I’m not getting the “Dad, it’s to damn hot” look everyday from them, so I know it’s an improvement.

Welp, thought I’d post a little update. Overall, things are good, working on a couple projects, and hopefully launching a new one here by the end of the weekend. Until then, cheers.
